Mission, Vision & Core Values

Our Mission

To promote environmental sustainability, advance evidence-based policy reform, and foster inclusive development by bridging the gap between scientific knowledge, governance, and community action. A world where every individual, regardless of geography, gender, or socioeconomic status, thrives within a healthy environment, governed by just and inclusive policies. We envision communities that are resilient, self-sufficient, and empowered to shape the decisions that affect their natural environment and quality of life — a planet where development and ecology exist in permanent harmony.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about GEPDI's mission, operating model, global advocacy, and how you can get involved.

GEPDI is an international non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing environmental sustainability, championing evidence-based policy reform, and catalyzing inclusive community development. We operate at the intersection of ecological preservation, governance, and human development to forge resilient communities worldwide.

We focus on four core pillars: (1) Climate Action & Environmental Justice — grassroots reforestation and clean energy adoption; (2) Policy Advocacy & Governance Reform — shaping national and multilateral environmental legislation; (3) Community Development & Empowerment — training vulnerable groups for green jobs and sustainable livelihoods; and (4) Research & Education — publishing empirical data and open-access policy briefs.

Our multidisciplinary policy teams conduct independent research, author model bills, and actively engage policymakers at national parliaments and major global summits, including the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP) and the African Union Commission. We ensure grassroots community concerns are reflected in high-level policy agendas.

Headquartered in Nigeria with operations spanning more than 20 countries across Western, Eastern, and Central Africa, GEPDI partners with local communities, international agencies, and academic centers worldwide to deliver locally contextualized, high-impact conservation and development solutions.

You can support GEPDI through direct donations, organizational partnerships, grants, or volunteer and internship opportunities. All contributions directly fund field conservation programs, renewable energy training, and research publications. Contact us directly at info@gepdi.org to get involved.
